Kirin Polymer Clay Pendant

The Kirin is a symbol of prosperity, and pursuer of evil. One of the Four Benevolent Animals of China, Kirin rules all the terrestrial animals.

This Kirin (also known as the Chinese Unicorn) is hand-sculpted out of Sculptey Polymer Clay and every scale is an individually pressed ball of clay. The scale pattern is inspired by a baby deer. After firing, I antique the piece using black acrylic paint to bring out each individual scale. Lastly, I coat it with 5 layers of glaze to give it a nice glossy shine before adding the green leather cording!

This is a one of a kind piece, made completely by hand without any molds. Once it is sold, it is gone forever and I never make these unique pendants exactly more then once!
